Love It or Hate It, Apple TV’s Polarizing Hit Scores Season 5
Apple TV+ isn’t letting go of The Morning Show anytime soon. The streamer confirmed that the drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon has been picked up for a fifth season, just one day before the fourth season premieres.
Both Aniston and Witherspoon not only lead the cast but also executive produce the series. Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt and director Mimi Leder will continue their roles for the next season as well.
Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, praised the team behind the show, saying, “The Morning Show has been a standout from the very start, debuting as one of the flagship series on Apple TV+. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see it not only entertain but also resonate with audiences worldwide.”
“Thanks to the outstanding cast and creative team — led by Jennifer, Reese, Charlotte and Mimi — The Morning Show continues to deliver addictively entertaining and provocative stories that we’ve all come to love. We’re excited for viewers to experience the next chapter of this Emmy-winning drama.”
The series first launched in 2019 and takes viewers inside the behind-the-scenes drama of a fictional morning news program. Over the years, it has woven in real-world themes including the #MeToo movement, the pandemic, racial inequality, and even the Capitol riots. The show has pulled in 27 Emmy nominations and several major wins, including awards for Aniston and Billy Crudup.
Despite the accolades, fans remain divided. The show earned a 75% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score is far lower at 34%. On social media, reactions to the renewal were mixed.
One viewer wrote, “Let’s be honest about this show. It’s just okay, but I don’t think 5 seasons type of good.” Another posted, “Hope it’s the last one not cause it sucks I’ve barely seen past the first episode but because no show imo should last longer than 5 seasons.” Some were even harsher, with one comment reading, “This show is the ultimate money laundering scheme. It’s f*c*i*g horrible yet keeps getting renewed. Why?!?!”
Season four of The Morning Show arrives on September 17, and season five is officially on the way.

The renewal shows Apple TV+ is betting on star power over audience ratings. Aniston and Witherspoon keep the show in the spotlight, and that’s enough for the streamer to push forward. But the big question is whether viewers are still excited or just tired. What do you think? Should The Morning Show keep going, or should it have wrapped up already?
