Charlie Kirk’s Producer Defends “South Park” Episode: Says He’d Have Wanted It Back on Air
Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of “The Charlie Kirk Show” and a close friend of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, said that Kirk “loved that he was featured in ‘South Park’” and would have wanted the episode to remain available.
Kolvet made the comments on X, sharing his perspective on the now-controversial episode.
The episode, titled “Got a Nut,” aired on Aug. 6 and included Cartman mimicking Kirk’s hairstyle and setting up a table to debate students on politics.
After Kirk was tragically killed while speaking at a university on Sept. 10, Comedy Central removed the episode from its linear broadcast schedule. It remains available for streaming on Paramount+.
“As someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in ‘South Park,’” Kolvet wrote. “He told me many times. He would want the episode back up.”

Kirk himself had reacted positively to the episode when it was first teased in July. In an interview with Fox News Digital, he said, “Honestly, my first reaction was that I kinda laughed. It’s kinda funny, and it kinda goes to show the cultural impact and the resonance that our movement has been able to achieve. I look at this as a badge of honor.”
He also stressed that conservatives should be able to handle humor aimed at them. “We as conservatives need to be able to take a joke. We shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously. That’s something that the left has always done, to great detriment to themselves and the movement. Look, they’re professional comedians. They’re probably going to roast me, and I think that’s fine. That’s what it’s all about, being in public life and making a difference,” Kirk said.
Kirk even embraced the parody online, updating the profile pictures for “The Charlie Kirk Show” on Instagram and TikTok to show Cartman impersonating him. Those images remain on the accounts to this day.
