Dave Bautista, known for his blockbuster roles in Guardians of the Galaxy and Dune, is back in the spotlight with the latest action movie Afterburn, which hits theaters last week.

The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson and Olga Kurylenko, and Bautista also teamed up with other big names in Hollywood after his recent cameo in the Naked Gun reboot.

While promoting Afterburn with Collider, Bautista opened up about a personal rule he now follows on film sets: he refuses to work with people he considers difficult.

“Something that people don’t realize is that when making a movie, you’re spending such long hours together, and if you’re working with someone who’s an ***h*l, it makes the entire shoot… horrific,” Bautista said.

He added, “Absolutely awful. [Laughs] I’m just at the age and at the point of my life where life’s just too goddamn short. I want to work with people I just love and respect, because I love this business.”

“I love filmmaking, and if people don’t want to be there, I don’t want to be there with them. You know? I’m happy to be there. It’s a love thing for me, and I’m passionate about it. I want to be there, and I want to make the most of it, so I don’t want to hear people bit****, complaining, moaning, and groaning about doing something that we’re all fortunate enough to be doing and making.” He said.

Bautista’s comments highlight how important a positive environment is on set, especially for actors who spend long days working closely with others.

Bautista makes a good point—working with toxic people can ruin even the most exciting projects. It’s refreshing to see an actor prioritize respect and passion over just taking every role that comes along. What do you think? Would you refuse to work with someone difficult even for a major movie?
