Hideo Kojima & Jordan Peele’s ‘Silent Hills’ Successor ‘OD’ Drops First Full Trailer
The long-awaited horror game OD has finally revealed a full trailer, giving players their best look yet at the mysterious project.
The game is being developed by Kojima Productions and will be published by Xbox Game Studios. It brings together two big names—Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear and Death Stranding, and filmmaker Jordan Peele.
OD is described as a spiritual follow-up to the cancelled Silent Hills project. The game stars Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier. According to Kojima, the idea is to push the limits of fear. He explained that it will “explore the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear.”
The game has had a long road to get here. Kojima first announced a partnership with Xbox back in 2022. Not long after, leaked footage appeared online, showing a short clip that ended with the words “GAMEOVER” and “OVERDOSE.” The project became official a year later at The Game Awards 2023, where Kojima and Peele appeared together to confirm it.

OD also faced setbacks. In late 2024, work on the game was paused due to the SAG-AFTRA video game strike. Production picked up again in mid-2025 after Kojima released Death Stranding 2.
At Kojima Productions’ 10th anniversary event this September, the new teaser was shown. It featured Sophia Lillis’s character and revealed the subtitle Knock. Kojima spoke about his personal fears, saying that even something as small as knocking sounds can be unsettling. He added that Peele would be focusing on “a different kind of fear.”
Kojima has made it clear that OD will not be a typical horror game. He said he is working with Xbox’s cloud gaming technology to try something experimental. “I’m working with Xbox Game Studios and their cloud gaming technology to take on the challenge of creating a very unique, immersive, and totally new style of game—or rather, a new form of media,” Kojima explained.
He also described the project as “avant-garde” and admitted, “people will [either] love it or hate it.” In his view, the game won’t be fully understood for another decade or two.
OD is shaping up to be one of the most unusual horror games we’ve seen in years. Kojima’s work is always divisive, and with Peele involved, the project feels even more unpredictable. The mix of technology, story, and psychological fear could either make it groundbreaking or confusing. What do you think, will OD change horror games forever, or will it just be too strange?
