Netflix is set to welcome the hit animated series Solar Opposites later this month, giving fans of the show a new way to catch up on the adventures of Korvo, Yumyulack, Terry, and Jesse.

The series, which originally premiered on Hulu in 2020, follows a family of aliens trying to navigate life on Earth, blending outrageous humor with clever sci-fi storytelling. Netflix will begin streaming the show on September 28th, though it’s still unclear exactly how many seasons will be available or whether the final season will be included. Hulu is set to release the last season on October 13th.

Co-creator Mike McMahan commented on the transition, reflecting on the end of the series on Hulu. “We woke up one day and we said to ourselves, ‘We’ve been cancelled forcefully by the network, so we should probably make this the last season. We could keep doing it, but since nobody will be paying us to do it, it would be pretty rudimentary. The artists need to eat and have medicine.’”

McMahan also hinted at what fans can expect in the final season: “We knew this was going to be our final season going into it, but we think of it as like the end of our first chapter or something. So you get a lot of cool culmination of long-running jokes, storylines like The Wall, Silver Cops, and it’s all in.”

Executive producer Josh Bycel added that the team wasn’t certain it would be the final season while they were working on it, but they managed to bring back key elements for the conclusion.

“We actually didn’t totally know that it was going to be the last season, but it’s done in a way that I think as Mike said could be the end of the first chapter, but we really were able to bring the Silver Cops, The Wall, all back to at the end of the day, the Solars.”

Hulu has also released an official description for the last season, highlighting the mix of chaos and comedy fans have come to expect: “Witness the wild chaos of this unhinged alien family as they get into hilarious mischief, all while the final chapter of an epic drama unfolds for the shrunken people they’ve imprisoned in their Wall. As the ‘Solar Opposites’ navigate their unforgettable farewell, expect laugh-out-loud surprises at every turn.”

This move to Netflix offers a fresh chance for new viewers to experience the show, and longtime fans can revisit the aliens’ adventures in a new streaming home. With the final season soon coming, the series promises a mix of humor, sci-fi, and satisfying conclusions to long-running storylines.

I think moving Solar Opposites to Netflix is a smart way to reach more viewers and keep the series alive in the public eye. The show’s mix of comedy and science fiction makes it a unique addition to the streaming platform. I’m curious, what do you think about the series coming to Netflix?
