Some game series sprawl across many entries, but a well built trilogy tells a complete story from start to finish. These sets of three usually follow one arc, show clear mechanical growth, and land in formats that are easy to revisit through collections or remasters. To keep things neat, this list focuses on finished three part runs that players can reasonably play today on modern systems.

Each entry below notes the core release timeline, platforms, and what binds the three games together. Developer details are included quietly in context so you can trace how each trilogy found its voice and how later reissues kept them accessible.

Mass Effect Trilogy

BioWare

BioWare released the first game in 2007, followed by entries in 2010 and 2012, originally on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The trilogy tracks Commander Shepard across the Milky Way with a save import system that lets choices persist from one game to the next and with squad progression that carries through the full arc.

In 2021 the studio issued the Legendary Edition on modern consoles and PC with visual upgrades, unified controls, and bundled story content. The remaster also streamlines mission balance in the opening game so the three titles play more consistently in sequence.

Uncharted Trilogy

Bluepoint Games

Naughty Dog launched the three PlayStation 3 adventures in 2007, 2009, and 2011, blending climbing, puzzle solving, and cover shooting across globe trotting chapters. The trilogy centers on Nathan Drake’s relationships with Elena Fisher and Victor Sullivan and threads recurring treasure hunting myths through each finale.

Bluepoint Games assembled The Nathan Drake Collection for PlayStation 4 in 2015 with higher resolution output and photo mode, and that version later arrived on PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility. Save files remain self contained per game, which makes it easy to jump into any part of the three game run.

The Witcher Trilogy

CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red released the trilogy in 2007, 2011, and 2015, adapting Andrzej Sapkowski’s fiction into PC focused entries before expanding to consoles. Choices carry between games through save imports, and each title evolves the studio’s technology from a modified Aurora engine to successive versions of REDengine.

The third game received ongoing updates that added performance options and platform specific improvements, while the first two saw enhanced editions with extra quests and balance tweaks. This makes it straightforward to play the entire trilogy today on PC and modern consoles with broad language and controller support.

Dark Souls Trilogy

FromSoftware

FromSoftware shipped the three core entries in 2011, 2014, and 2016 across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Each game connects through item lore, boss lineages, and online systems like messages, co op summons, and invasions that define its approach to shared play.

A remastered version of the first game arrived in 2018 with higher frame rate targets and network improvements, and a packaged Dark Souls Trilogy set later combined all three titles with their expansions. Together they provide a continuous path from the original’s foundational map design to the faster combat rhythm of the third entry.

Halo Original Trilogy

Bungie

Bungie launched the original three games in 2001, 2004, and 2007 on Xbox and later on PC, following Master Chief and Cortana through the Covenant and Flood wars. The set introduced regenerating shields, a two weapon limit, and large sandbox encounters that helped define console shooter controls.

The Master Chief Collection brought the trilogy to Xbox One and PC starting in 2014 with restored multiplayer playlists, enhanced resolution, and Anniversary editions for the first two titles. Ongoing updates added cross play support and expanded graphics options, allowing the three games to sit comfortably on current hardware.

Gears of War Trilogy

Epic Games

Epic Games released the first three entries in 2006, 2008, and 2011 for Xbox 360 and later on PC, building a cover based shooter template with active reload timing and cooperative campaigns. The story follows Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad through the Locust conflict and culminates in a definitive close to that arc.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition modernized the opening game in 2015 with updated assets and expanded multiplayer, and backward compatibility keeps the full trilogy playable on Xbox Series consoles. The Coalition now oversees the franchise, but the Epic era stands as a complete three part run that remains accessible.

Batman Arkham Trilogy

Rocksteady Studios

Rocksteady Studios delivered ‘Arkham Asylum’ in 2009, ‘Arkham City’ in 2011, and ‘Arkham Knight’ in 2015 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The trilogy refines Freeflow combat and stealth predator encounters while expanding from a contained facility to a full city and then to an open urban map with new traversal tools.

Return to Arkham bundled remastered versions of the first two games on newer consoles in 2016, and ‘Arkham Knight’ continues to receive performance enhancements on current systems. WB Games Montreal’s ‘Arkham Origins’ sits as a separate prequel, which leaves Rocksteady’s three titles as a clear trilogy.

BioShock Trilogy

Irrational Games

Irrational Games released the first title in 2007, 2K Marin followed with the second in 2010, and Irrational returned with a third in 2013, spanning Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. The trilogy links through genetic modification systems, audio logs, and thematic parallels between undersea Rapture and the airborne city of Columbia.

BioShock The Collection arrived in 2016 with remastered versions of the first two games and bundled DLC across modern platforms, and a Switch edition later expanded availability. Visual upgrades and museum style extras make it simple to experience the three games in order with consistent presentation.

Metroid Prime Trilogy

Retro Studios

Retro Studios launched the first game on GameCube in 2002, followed with a sequel in 2004, and concluded the trilogy on Wii in 2007. The set translates side scrolling exploration into a first person perspective with visor modes, scanning, and suit upgrades that gate progress.

A Metroid Prime Trilogy package hit Wii in 2009 with pointer controls across all three entries, and Metroid Prime Remastered arrived on Switch in 2023 with updated models and dual stick options. Save systems keep progression separate per title, so players can approach the trilogy at their own pace.

Max Payne Trilogy

Remedy Entertainment

Remedy Entertainment created the first two games in 2001 and 2003 for PC and consoles, introducing slow motion bullet time and graphic novel style storytelling. Rockstar Studios then developed the third entry in 2012 with a new engine, expanded weapon handling, and extensive multiplayer support.

The series is widely available on PC stores and through backward compatibility on modern Xbox hardware, while the third game runs natively on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era systems. Remedy has announced remakes of the first two entries with Rockstar’s support, which will place the trio on the same hardware family once complete.

Spyro The Dragon Trilogy

Insomniac Games

Insomniac Games launched the original PlayStation trilogy in 1998, 1999, and 2000 with large hub worlds and gem collection goals that emphasize exploration and character abilities. Each entry adds new playable creatures and activities while preserving a consistent control feel across the three games.

Toys for Bob released the Reignited Trilogy in 2018 for modern consoles and PC with rebuilt visuals and unified menus. The collection maintains original level layouts and soundtrack options, making it an easy way to play the three games today on current platforms.

Crash Bandicoot Trilogy

Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog released the original platformers for PlayStation in 1996, 1997, and 1998, building a corridor style run and jump formula with time trial and gem collection challenges. Boss patterns, crate routes, and vehicle sections grow more complex across the three titles while sharing the same core move set.

Vicarious Visions delivered the N Sane Trilogy in 2017 with new models, lighting, and a unified save and menu system, followed by releases on additional platforms. The compilation keeps level geometry faithful, which lets returning players use known routes while offering modern conveniences like quick restart.

Assassin’s Creed Ezio Trilogy

Ubisoft

Ubisoft Montreal introduced Ezio Auditore in 2009, continued his story in 2010, and closed his arc in 2011 across Italy and Constantinople on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The trilogy refines free running, crowd blending, and economy systems while adding features like brotherhood recruits and bomb crafting as the story progresses.

The Ezio Collection arrived in 2016 on newer consoles and later on Switch with all single player expansions and updated textures. That set presents the three games in order with a single launcher and short video extras that bridge story beats between entries.

Dead Space Trilogy

Visceral Games

Visceral Games released the science fiction survival horror trilogy in 2008, 2011, and 2013 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Strategic dismemberment, diegetic interfaces, and zero gravity traversal anchor the mechanics while the narrative follows Isaac Clarke through colony, station, and planet side settings.

Modern players can access the originals via backward compatibility on Xbox, and the first game received a full remake on current platforms in 2023 by Motive Studio. Optional co op in the third entry and bundled DLC packs make it simple to play the entire arc in sequence with all side content included.

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Trilogy

Ubisoft

Ubisoft Montreal shipped the three games in 2003, 2004, and 2005 across PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC, introducing time rewind, acrobatic platforming, and environmental traps. The trilogy maintains a shared cast and setting while adding new combat options and traversal challenges in each sequel.

An HD collection arrived on PlayStation 3 in 2010 with higher resolution output and trophy support, and a remake of the opening game has been announced and remains in development. Save systems and difficulty options keep the trilogy approachable on original and modern hardware.
