Noel Clarke, known for playing Mickey Smith in the long-running British sci-fi series Doctor Who, was reportedly arrested at his London home earlier today.

According to a report from Express, police raided his residence in Kensington, West London, before 9 a.m., staying on the property for around five hours. During the search, officers took computers, paperwork, and other items connected to an ongoing investigation. Clarke was later allowed to return to his home after 5 p.m.

Clarke first appeared as Mickey Smith in the very first episode of Doctor Who’s modern-era reboot and continued in the role throughout the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s runs. The character remains a fan favorite among viewers.

The arrest comes shortly after Clarke lost a high-profile court case against The Guardian newspaper.

The actor had sued for libel after more than 20 women accused him of sexual misconduct in an article published in 2021. The court ruled that The Guardian’s reporting was “substantially true,” dismissing Clarke’s claim that the women had formed a “conspiracy” to damage his career.

“There has been no conspiracy to lie,” the judge said during the ruling. “In the absence of a conspiracy, Mr Clarke’s case that more than 20 witnesses—none of whom are parties or have a stake in this case, as he does—have come to court to lie is inherently implausible.”

The judge added, “It is clear that women have been speaking about their experiences of working with Mr. Clarke for many years.”

Clarke continues to maintain his innocence. After the ruling, he released a statement, saying, “I have never claimed to be perfect. But I am not the person described in these articles. Overnight I lost everything, the media outlet didn’t just ruin my life, they ripped through my family’s also.”

Since the allegations became public, Clarke has not appeared in any new films or television projects. The investigation and today’s police action mark another significant development in a case that has already drawn widespread attention.
