‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Drops New Look at Thrilling Season 2
Anime fans have a new reason to get excited as Studio Madhouse released a fresh preview for the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
The new poster highlights the main characters, including Fern and Stark, exploring a cave filled with crystal-like structures. According to the official website, “The second season of the TV anime ‘Funeral of Freiren’ will begin airing on Friday nights at 11pm on Nippon Television’s nationwide network of 30 stations, ‘FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT,’ starting January 16, 2026!”
The key visual shows Freiren, Fern, and Stark floating in a space surrounded by crystal, hinting at new adventures and challenges not seen in the first season.

The anime originally premiered with a two-hour special on September 29, 2023, on Nippon TV’s Kin’yō Road Show, a block usually reserved for feature films.
It later continued on the network’s Friday Anime Night programming and wrapped up on March 22, 2024. Toho collected the episodes in seven DVD and Blu-ray sets, released from January to July 2024. Fans received exciting news in September 2024 when a second season was confirmed, set to premiere on January 16, 2026.
Most of the original cast and staff are returning for season two, though there are some changes. Tomoya Kitagawa will direct the series, taking over from Keiichirō Saitō, while Daiki Harashina joins as assistant director.
New character designers Takasemaru, Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka are replacing Reiko Nagasawa.
In addition to the main series, eleven short episodes called Sōsō no Frieren: Marumaru no Mahō were released online between October 11, 2023, and March 24, 2024, on Toho Animation’s YouTube channel as well as the anime’s official X and TikTok accounts.
This new preview and key visual suggest that season two will expand the story and offer fans more magical and thrilling moments with the characters. Personally, I think the new season looks visually stunning and promises to explore even deeper themes from the first season.
