Paramount+ has announced that the latest installment in the Naked Gun series will start streaming in the U.S. and Canada on September 30.

The action comedy, directed by Akiva Schaffer, serves as a legacy sequel to Naked Gun 33â…“: The Final Insult (1994) and marks the fourth entry in the franchise.

The film stars Liam Neeson in the lead role, with Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston in supporting roles. The story follows the son of Lt. Frank Drebin, who must live up to his father’s legacy to save Police Squad from being shut down.

The journey to this film was long. A fourth Naked Gun movie was first announced in 2009 as a TV sequel with Leslie Nielsen returning, but the project was canceled after Nielsen’s passing and the departure of writer Alan Spencer. In 2013, there was talk of a reboot starring Ed Helms, which never moved forward.

Finally, in January 2021, Seth MacFarlane was brought on to develop the project and suggested Liam Neeson for the lead role. Schaffer eventually replaced MacFarlane as director when the film was officially greenlit in October 2022. Casting continued into 2024, with Pamela Anderson joining in April. Filming took place in Atlanta, Georgia, from May to June 2025.

The film premiered at the SVA Theater in Manhattan on July 28, before its U.S. release by Paramount Pictures on August 1. It received positive reviews and earned $102 million worldwide on a $42 million budget.

This new Naked Gun movie shows that even decades after the original, the franchise still has fans and appeal. Streaming it on Paramount+ will give audiences a chance to enjoy the humor and chaos of Police Squad from the comfort of home.
