Channing Tatum is set to return as Gambit in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and he is already promising fans an unforgettable experience.

In a recent interview with ET Online, Tatum said the film will be so exciting it will “make your brains ooze out of your ears, like in the way that I knew when Blade walks on screen in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’… It’s that, times like 50.”

Tatum previously hinted at some major action in the film, including a face-off between Gambit and Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.

Speaking about the character, he explained, “He likes women, he smokes, he drinks. He’s not just a save-the-world kind of guy — we need those, but we need contrast.” To get Gambit’s accent just right, Tatum worked with Marvel executives and decided “I’m not gonna go full Cajun.”

The Russo brothers, who are directing, have encouraged Tatum to balance humor and seriousness in his performance. “When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter,” Tatum said.

Filming took place in London and involved long, challenging days, but Tatum found the experience rewarding. He also discussed how he balanced work with family life, admitting that he considered skipping the project to stay close to his daughter: “I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do ‘Avengers,’ because I was going to have to be gone, but I was like — it’s OK. She’s going into middle school now.”

Gambit first appeared in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, quickly becoming a fan favorite. Tatum now returns to the role alongside X-Men legends including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.

He has a long history with the character, having once planned a solo Gambit movie and even co-directing parts of it with Reid Carolin before the project was canceled following Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019.

Fans have responded enthusiastically to the news of Gambit’s return, praising Tatum’s energy and charisma. Social media is buzzing with theories about how he will fit into the larger Avengers storyline, especially following the hints of his showdown with Doctor Doom. Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be an exciting chapter for both Marvel and X-Men fans.
