Crunchyroll has confirmed that fans of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will need to wait a while to watch the latest movie, Infinity Castle, at home. The film, officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, premiered in Japan on July 18, and has been released in select Asian countries through Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Releasing.

The movie has been a massive hit at the box office, grossing $616 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing Japanese film of 2025, as well as the seventh-highest-grossing film globally for the year.

Unlike the previous anime compilations, Infinity Castle is a full-length adaptation of the “Infinity Castle” arc from Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga. It continues the story from the fourth season of the anime and follows the earlier films, Mugen Train (2020), To the Swordsmith Village (2023), and To the Hashira Training (2024).

The film has been praised for its visuals, action scenes, and compelling story, though some critics noted that its pacing could feel uneven.

Despite the huge theatrical success, Crunchyroll is keeping the movie exclusive to cinemas for now. Mitchel Berger, Executive Vice President of Global Commerce at Crunchyroll, told Popverse that the streaming release won’t happen this year.

“Go see [Demon Slayer Infinity Castle] in the theater because the theater is the only place you’re going to be able to see this film in 2025. If you want to see it, go see it in the theater because that’s the only place it’s going to be available,” he said.

This approach means fans will need to head to theaters to experience the full film this year, with no streaming option until at least 2026. While this strategy is likely aimed at maximizing box office earnings, it has left many at-home viewers disappointed.
