Hip-hop icon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to just over four years in prison for pros*****-related crimes involving two of his former girlfriends. The federal court in New York delivered the ruling on Friday.

Combs, 55, spent nearly two months on trial. Prosecutors accused him of using his fame and business influence to involve the women in pros*****. While he was cleared of the most serious charges, including s** trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, he was convicted on two counts of transporting women for pros***** under the Mann Act, a law passed in 1910.

The government sought an 11-year prison term, highlighting Combs’ history of domestic abuse. His lawyers argued for a much lighter sentence, suggesting 14 months, and pointed out that Combs had shown remorse and personal growth during the 13 months he had already spent in jail before sentencing.

During the hearing, Combs spoke publicly for the first time since the trial began. “My actions were disgusting, shameful, and sick,” he said, apologizing to his victims by name, Casandra Ventura and a woman identified as Jane, who testified under a pseudonym.

He also expressed remorse to his mother and children, saying, “I’m so sorry. They deserved better.” He asked the judge for mercy and promised to never repeat his past mistakes.

Several of Combs’ children also spoke in court, with some describing him as a changed man. Defense attorneys highlighted his charity work, business successes, and rehabilitation while in prison.

Prosecutors, however, stressed the seriousness of his actions and the lasting harm to his victims. Judge Arun Subramanian said, “You abused them, physically, emotionally and psychologically,” noting that Combs had used his wealth and influence to maintain control over the women.

The judge sentenced Combs to 50 months in prison and imposed a $500,000 fine. He credited the time Combs had already served and explained that the sentence was needed to hold him accountable and prevent future offenses. Combs’ lawyers said they plan to appeal the decision.

This case has drawn attention for the sharp contrast between Combs’ public image as a successful entertainer and entrepreneur and the criminal convictions related to his private life.
