Channing Tatum Teases ‘Avengers Doomsday’: Fans ‘Not Ready’ for What’s Coming
Channing Tatum is officially returning as Gambit in Marvel’s upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, and he’s already hinting at some exciting moments for fans.
Speaking on The Supes Show, Tatum teased the movie, saying, “You’re just not ready on this one. I’m not obviously not allowed to talk about it, but like, you know, I knew what was coming in Deadpool Wolverine. I knew people weren’t ready.”
“I knew that people were just their brains are going to ooze out of their ears when they watch Blade walk on screen, and this is going to probably triple down on that.” He said.
Tatum previously confirmed that Gambit will face off against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, promising a major action sequence.
He also spoke about what makes his character different from other heroes, noting, “He likes women, he smokes, he drinks. He’s not just a save-the-world kind of guy — we need those, but we need contrast.” The actor added that he worked closely with Marvel to refine Gambit’s accent, deciding against going fully Cajun.
The Russo brothers, who are directing the movie, want Gambit to bring both humor and weight to the story. Tatum said, “When Gambit gets serious — when he drops the Mardi Gras mask — things do matter.”
Filming in London was tough, with long days on set, but Tatum described it as rewarding. He also shared that he briefly considered stepping away from the project to be with his daughter but ultimately decided to join the film, saying, “It’s OK. She’s going into middle school now.”
Tatum first played Gambit in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, where the character quickly became a fan favorite. He now reunites with X-Men veterans like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden.
Tatum has a long history with the character, having once been attached to a solo Gambit movie that was shelved after Disney acquired Fox in 2019.
Fans are thrilled about Gambit’s return, sharing excitement online and speculating about how he will fit into the larger Avengers story, especially after hints of a showdown with Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday is shaping up to be an action-packed and memorable installment for both Marvel and X-Men fans. Tatum’s enthusiasm and promises of thrilling sequences have already raised anticipation.
Gambit’s return is exciting because it adds a fresh, unpredictable element to the MCU. A mix of humor, action, and a fan-favorite character could make this one of the standout Marvel films. What do you think about Gambit coming back? Share your thoughts in the comments.
