Jimmy Kimmel Jabs Donald Trump Following Approval Poll Victory
Jimmy Kimmel didn’t hold back when sharing some surprising news about Donald Trump on Monday night. According to a YouGov poll, the late-night host now has a 3% higher favorability rating than the president.
“I lead Trump by 16 points,“ Kimmel joked. “I’m at plus three, he’s at minus 13.”
He continued with his trademark humor, adding, “At this point, finding a toenail in your salad has a seven-point lead over Donald Trump.”
Kimmel also poked fun at the possibility of Trump seeing the poll results. “I hope [Trump] doesn’t see this. You know I don’t like to upset him. But I think he might be upset, because the White House put out a statement this afternoon…”
Reading from a statement by White House press spokesperson Anna Kelly, Kimmel highlighted her words: Trump supposedly “prays every night to garner a fraction of [Kimmel’s] support… Sad!”
“I like sad with an exclamation point,” Kimmel responded. “It would make a nice T-shirt with Trump’s face on it, wouldn’t it?”
He didn’t stop there, adding another jab: “You know what else is sad? That the President of the United States has a lower approval rating than Diddy and diarrhea.”
The poll came shortly after ABC temporarily pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! from the air, a move reportedly influenced by pressure from FCC chairman Brendan Carr, who was appointed by Trump. The decision led to public backlash, and the show returned with a significant boost in viewership.
Kimmel also offered Trump a humorous suggestion on how to improve his ratings. “I have an idea: release the Epstein files,” he said, pointing out that most Americans want them made public. “Trump’s treating these Epstein files like a grumpy old neighbor on Halloween. He turns off all the lights and just hopes the trick-or-treaters will assume there’s nobody home.”
The segment, reported and shared widely on social media, showcased Kimmel’s blend of satire and sharp commentary, highlighting how the comedian uses humor to address political topics while connecting with his audience.
It’s interesting to see a comedian outrank a president in favorability, even if just by a few points. It shows how humor and media presence can shape public opinion. What do you think about Kimmel’s new poll numbers versus Trump? Share your thoughts in the comments.
