Here’s Why Elon Musk Wants Everyone to Cancel Netflix Subscriptions: Will You Listen?
Elon Musk recently urged Netflix subscribers to cancel their accounts, citing concerns over the streaming platform’s content and diversity efforts.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO made the comments on X, after a controversy involving the canceled Netflix animated series “Dead End: Paranormal Park” and its director, Hamish Steele.
Steele’s comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk sparked outrage among some right-wing circles.
According to Libs of TikTok, Steele criticized British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s post mourning Kirk’s death, writing on Bluesky, “Why the [****] are you even commenting on this, [****] head… a random n*** gets shot and it’s a public statement.” Steele later clarified that he did not celebrate Kirk’s death, saying on Bluesky, “Instagram comments are now flooded with replies saying I AM CHARLIE KIRK and that I celebrated his death (which I never did).”
The controversy escalated when Libs of TikTok shared clips from “Dead End: Paranormal Park,” claiming the show was promoting a “pro-transgender” agenda for children.
One clip showed the protagonist, Barney Guttman, coming out to his friend Norma: “I’m trans, Norma. Being here, it’s like a whole new place. I can just be Barney, and I can choose if and when I tell people… I’ve never been happier… live your life without apology.”
Musk shared posts from Libs of TikTok on X, writing “Cancel Netflix” and later urging followers to cancel subscriptions “for the health of your kids.” His posts, viewed millions of times, criticized Netflix for promoting a “transgender woke agenda” in children’s programming.
Other right-wing figures joined Musk’s call to cancel Netflix. Robby Starbuck, a conservative commentator, amplified the boycott, while critics pointed to clips from shows such as Cocomelon and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous as examples of LGBTQ representation they claim is inappropriate for children.
“Isn’t it just supposed to be about dinosaurs? How many of these LGBTQ propaganda shows are there on @netflix ???” Libs of TikTok questioned on X, referencing the animated series.
Other shows, such as The Baby-Sitters Club, have also drawn criticism. In one scene, a character calls out a nurse for misgendering a child, which some conservatives, including Musk, found inappropriate for younger viewers.

Political commentator Gunther Eagleman supported Musk’s position, urging his followers on X to “Cancel Netflix,” a post that Musk subsequently shared.
The backlash against “Dead End: Paranormal Park” and other Netflix programming is part of a larger reaction from conservatives following the shooting of Charlie Kirk. Steele has indicated that he will remain low-profile amid the controversy, acknowledging that the situation has become overwhelming.
