Casting Locked: Actors Announced for Paul and Linda McCartney in Sam Mendes’ Beatles Biopic

Saoirse Ronan has been cast as Linda McCartney in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic series, according to official announcements.

She will star alongside Paul Mescal, who will portray Paul McCartney, Linda’s husband from 1969 until her passing in 1998. Linda McCartney was a keyboardist and harmony vocalist in Paul’s post-Beatles band, Wings.

The rest of the Fab Four have also been cast. Harrison Dickinson will play John Lennon, Joseph Quinn takes on George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will portray Ringo Starr. Mendes’ project will consist of four separate films, each told from the perspective of a different Beatles member.

The films aim to show how the band rose from Liverpool to become a global cultural phenomenon, leading up to their 1970 breakup. As the production team explains, “Each man has his own story, but together they are legendary.”

All four movies are planned to debut in theaters in April 2028. Sony Pictures has described it as the “first binge-able theatrical experience,” though the exact release schedule for each installment has not yet been confirmed.

This biopic series promises to offer a fresh look at the Beatles’ story, focusing on personal perspectives while highlighting their collective impact on music and culture.
