‘Dragon Ball’ Fans Face Wait as 2026’s Biggest Release Gets Delayed
Fans of Dragon Ball will have to wait a little longer for one of the franchise’s most anticipated releases.
The Dragon Ball Complete 42-Volume Double Cover Box Set, originally scheduled for February 4th, 2026, has now been pushed back to April 3rd, 2026.
The delay was confirmed on Dragon Ball’s official X account, with the publisher citing the unexpectedly high number of pre-sale orders. “To accommodate the demand, Shueisha needs more time before releasing the complete set,” the announcement said. Release dates may still vary depending on the region.

The box set is part of the Dragon Ball Super Gallery project, which started in 2021 to celebrate the franchise’s 40th anniversary at the time. Forty-two famous mangaka, including One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda and Bleach’s Tite Kubo, each redrew one of the original volume covers in their own style.
The project began with Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto reimagining the first volume and concluded with Eiichiro Oda redrawing the final one. Each mangaka also included a personal note expressing their admiration for Akira Toriyama and what Dragon Ball means to them.
Shueisha began releasing the illustrations in its Saikyo Jump magazine starting in September 2021.
The box set, which became available for pre-order in May 2025, includes all 42 volumes with double covers, eight original dividers, and a double-sided card set featuring all the gallery artwork. Initially, pre-orders were limited to Japan, leaving fans in other countries waiting for an international release.
With the new Japanese release date in April, global fans may face an additional wait, especially for an English version. Some retailers, like Amazon, might ship the Japanese editions internationally, but those looking for English translations will likely have to wait longer.
Despite the delay, it’s only a two-month push, and updates about the international release are expected once the box set hits Japan.
