The series stars Rhea Seehorn, who previously worked with Gilligan on Better Call Saul, in the lead role as Carol Sturka.
According to Apple TV+, the story follows an author who appears to be the only person immune to a mysterious new virus that makes everyone else perpetually happy and optimistic.
Apple has already ordered two seasons of the show, with the first season consisting of nine episodes. The premiere will drop on November 7, when the first two episodes will be available. New episodes will continue to release every Friday through December 26.
The cast also includes Karolina Wydra as Zosia and Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manusos, with guest appearances from Miriam Shor, Samba Schutte, and Peter Bergman.
Gilligan pitched the series in August 2022 after wrapping up Better Call Saul. Apple TV+ won the rights in September 2022 and immediately gave the show a two-season order. Rhea Seehorn was cast as the lead, and Gilligan serves as showrunner and executive producer.
Production faced delays due to the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which briefly interrupted the writing for the first season.
Filming eventually began in February 2024 under the working title Wycaro 339 and wrapped in September 2024 after seven months in Albuquerque. Karolina Wydra joined the cast in March 2024, and the official title Pluribus was revealed in July 2025 alongside the release date announcement.
The new trailer offers a glimpse of the show’s unique sci-fi premise and Gilligan’s signature storytelling style. Fans of his previous work are eagerly anticipating how he will explore a world affected by a virus that forces happiness on its victims.
With Gilligan at the helm and Rhea Seehorn leading the cast, Pluribus is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about series of 2025. What do you think of the first trailer? Share your thoughts in the comments.
