Japanese Pokémon Legends: Z-A Finally Addresses a Question Fans Have Wondered About for Years
Fans of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in Japan recently noticed something unusual in the game: a character mentioned Pikachu pooping.
The moment caught attention online, with some players on X jokingly trending the phrase “Pikachu’s Poop,” according to Automaton. The NPC, found in Lumiose City, reportedly says, “Pikachu’s pooping more than usual, I’m worried.”
The comment is brief, and there’s no extra detail about Pikachu’s bowel habits. Still, it stands out because Pokémon games rarely talk about the creatures needing to relieve themselves. Other Pokémon have had droppings mentioned in the past.
For example, Diglett’s poop can be used as fertilizer, while Turtonator’s can be explosive. The Fire-type Darumaka even has droppings so hot that people in its world supposedly used them to keep warm.

In the English version of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, this line was softened. IGN reports that the translation replaces the reference to poop with “My Pikachu’s been having tummy troubles recently. I’m worried…” The change keeps the dialogue family-friendly while still showing concern for Pikachu.
This kind of adjustment fits with the broader Pokémon approach. While the series’ world includes things like breeding, death, and Pokémon eating other Pokémon, the games and anime usually avoid explicitly mentioning these more mature or messy details.
Even small moments like this get fans talking, showing how much attention the community pays to the little details in Pokémon games.
It’s funny but also interesting to see the franchise acknowledge something so natural about Pokémon life. It adds a tiny bit of realism while keeping the game kid-friendly. What do you think about this rare Pikachu moment? Share your thoughts in the comments.
