The upcoming fifth and final season of The Boys is set to raise the stakes with a dramatic showdown against a fascist government, according to creator Eric Kripke.

The season, produced by Sony Pictures Television along with Point Grey Pictures, Original Film, and several other companies, will continue to follow the main cast, including Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, and others, while adding Daveed Diggs to the lineup.

Kripke explained that the season will focus on an underground resistance led by Starlight, with A-Train playing a key role in the fight. “Part of the fun of wrapping out season two that way is that we really get to set the table for season five, where there’s now this active and growing resistance led by Starlight that A-Train is an important part of. They’re really trying to take the fight back to Homelander and this sort of fascist government,” Kripke said.

The new season builds on events from season two, where the Guardians of Godolkin were invited to join the growing resistance.

While these younger supes provide support, Kripke emphasized that the story remains focused on the original The Boys team. “By the same respect, we still work hard to try to maintain our balance that The Boys is about The Boys, and Gen V is about Gen V. The characters provide crucial assists, but it’s still about The Boys, and you can watch it without having watched Gen V and vice versa. But watching both is still a much more fun experience,” he added.

Fans can expect a season filled with action, suspense, and political intrigue as the heroes take on Homelander and the authoritarian system he represents.

The storyline promises to combine intense battles with the moral dilemmas of fighting a fascist regime, keeping the dark humor and character-driven drama that the series is known for.
