Leaked images from a canceled God of War multiplayer game have started making the rounds online, giving fans a glimpse of what could have been.

The screenshots, first shared by MP1st, show what looks like a return to Greece, the original setting of the early games, along with a possible comeback of a major villain from Kratos’ past.

Earlier this year, Sony pulled the plug on two unannounced live-service titles that were being developed by Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games. Many fans had already guessed that Bluepoint’s project was a multiplayer take on God of War, and these new leaks seem to confirm it.

The images show a variety of locations, from dark caverns to grand temples. Two of them are labeled “Hades’ Armory,” and they show the same area in two different versions, one normal and one corrupted by what looks like a curse, covered in strange rust-colored stains.

That name alone hints at the return of Hades, the God of the Underworld, who first appeared in the original 2005 game and became a major antagonist in God of War III. He was brutally killed by Kratos at the end of that game, so it’s unclear how Bluepoint planned to bring him back.

The setting is interesting too. Even though the project clearly leaned into Greek mythology, some of the designs in the screenshots have a Norse look, suggesting Bluepoint might have been blending both worlds or still trying out different ideas.

Sony hasn’t confirmed anything about the leak or announced what’s next for the series. But considering how successful the last two games, God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök (2022), have been, it’s hard to imagine the franchise slowing down. Fans are already wondering where Kratos will go next.

If these leaks are real, Bluepoint’s canceled project could have been a bold step — mixing mythologies, bringing back old gods, and letting players fight side by side in the world of God of War. For now, all fans can do is look at the screenshots and imagine what kind of chaos they might have unleashed.
