Ryan Coogler’s film Sinners has continued its impressive run, this time earning major recognition at the 68th annual Grammy Awards.

The movie made history by securing five nominations, putting it among the most-nominated films in Grammy history.

The dark Southern gothic drama, known for its powerful storytelling and strong box office performance, has drawn praise not just for its visuals but also for its music. Composer Ludwig Göransson received a nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Film/TV for his haunting, gospel-inspired work, which blends horror, spirituality, and humanity in a way that deeply enhances the film’s themes.

Sinners also dominated the Best Song Written for Film/TV category, with three original songs earning nominations. “I Lied to You”, written by Göransson and Raphael Saadiq and performed by Miles Caton, “Pale, Pale Moon”, written by Göransson and Brittany Howard and performed by Jayme Lawson, and the title track “Sinners”, written by Leonard Denisenko, Rodarius “Rod Wave” Green, Travis Harrington, Tarkan Kozluklu, Kyris Mingo, and Darius Povilinus and performed by Rod Wave, all highlight the film’s range from soulful ballads to cinematic anthems.

The movie’s full soundtrack, which mixes gospel, blues, and soul, was also recognized with a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Film/TV. The album deepens the world of the film, creating a musical experience that reflects both its Southern roots and its cinematic vision.

With five Grammy nominations, Sinners now sits alongside iconic films like Purple Rain, A Star Is Born, and The Bodyguard, which have similarly been recognized for their musical contributions. The Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where it will be revealed how many awards the film will take home.
