Rapper Rod Wave was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, on the same day he earned his first Grammy nomination. The 27-year-old artist, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody on Friday, November 7, according to Fulton County public records.

Authorities said Wave was facing four charges, including possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony, reckless driving, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Records also show he was released the next day after posting bond.

In a statement shared with TMZ, Wave’s lawyers, Drew Findling, Marissa Goldberg, and Zack Findling, said their client was unfairly treated. “Rod Wave was unjustly profiled and unlawfully arrested in Atlanta,” they said.

The attorneys criticized the Atlanta Police Department’s Crime Suppression Unit, claiming it focuses more on arrest numbers than community safety.

“The arresting officer belongs to the Atlanta Police Department’s controversial Crime Suppression Unit — a group known for its aggressive tactics and emphasis on high arrest numbers rather than genuine public safety,” they explained. They went on to describe the arrest as part of a “quota-driven approach” and called it a “clear violation of his rights.”

Attorney Drew Findling also told TMZ that Rod Wave appeared in court and was later released on an $8,000 bond.

This latest arrest follows two others earlier this year. In May, the rapper was booked on 14 charges, including aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a felony. Then in June, he was arrested again for battery, according to public records.

Despite his legal issues, the Florida-born rapper hit a major career milestone the same day as his arrest. He received his first Grammy nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for his track “Sinners,” which was featured in the 2025 movie Sinners.

Rod Wave’s fans have expressed mixed reactions online, with many hoping the artist can move past his legal troubles and focus on his growing music career.
