Ruben Fleischer Shares Big Update on “Now You See Me 4”
Ruben Fleischer has shared new details about the future of the Now You See Me series, and it looks like Lionsgate is already moving ahead with another movie.
In a conversation with Variety, the director explained that the studio began discussing a fourth film right after production wrapped on the latest installment.
Fleischer said Lionsgate became confident once they saw early footage. He explained it by saying, “When we were done shooting, they started to talk about it. I guess they’d seen a lot of the dailies and were feeling good about it and had the confidence to move forward. We’re working on the script now, and hopefully that’ll be ready so we can make it next year.”
The interviewer also asked about Mark Ruffalo, who appears briefly at the end of the new movie. Fleischer hopes Ruffalo can take on a larger role in the next film, but his schedule has been the biggest hurdle. The director described the situation, saying, “The biggest challenge with Mark is his schedule. He’s a very busy guy, and so he was only able to be in the film because we did some reshoots this summer.”
Fleischer added that Ruffalo was not available during the main shoot or even during the planned reshoots. He said, “He actually wasn’t even available during our reshoots, but I was lucky to catch him for a day in New York, and we shot him against a green screen. That’s why he’s a hologram, as opposed to entering into the scene. We took what we could get.”
It's very good to be back.
