Margot Robbie Reveals She Made Up Her Kiss With Brad Pitt in ‘Babylon’ – Here’s Why
Margot Robbie once revealed that one of Babylon’s most talked-about moments wasn’t planned at all. The actress shared that her kiss with Brad Pitt in the film was improvised.
Speaking to E! News, Robbie said, “That wasn’t in the script, but I thought, ‘When else am I gonna get the chance to kiss Brad Pitt? I’m just gonna go for it.’” In the film, she plays Nellie, an aspiring actress navigating 1920s Hollywood alongside Diego Calva’s Manny Torres and Brad Pitt’s veteran actor Jack Conrad.
Robbie explained that she had to convince director Damien Chazelle to allow the unscripted moment. “I said, ‘Damien, I think Nellie would just go up and kiss Jack,’” she said.
“And Damien was like, ‘Well, she could—wait, hold on. You just wanna kiss Brad Pitt.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, so sue me. This opportunity might never come up again.’ And he was like, ‘It does work for the character,’ and I was like, ‘I think so.’” The director liked the take so much that he asked for it again. “He was like, ‘No, do it again. That really works,’” Robbie joked.
