Fans of The Legend of Zelda finally got their first look at the upcoming live-action movie from Sony and Nintendo.

On Monday, new images were released showing young actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Princess Zelda and Link. In the photos, the characters stand in a green field, with Zelda holding her bow and arrow and both wearing costumes complete with Hylian ears.

The movie is being directed by Wes Ball, known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Maze Runner. It’s set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, who is producing the film, shared the news about the casting over the summer. “I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of ‘The Legend of Zelda,’ Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen,” Miyamoto wrote on social media.

The movie is a fantasy adventure based on the popular video game series created by Nintendo. Columbia Pictures and Nintendo are producing it, and Sony Pictures will distribute it. Alongside Ball and Miyamoto, producers include Avi Arad and Joe Hartwick Jr., while the script is written by Derek Connolly and T. S. Nowlin. Dichen Lachman has also been cast to play Impa.

Filming started in November in Wellington, New Zealand, and is expected to finish by April 2026. The film will be released worldwide on May 7, 2027.
