Tom Cruise Teams Up with Alejandro G. Iñárritu: First Behind-the-Scenes Look Revealed
Fans finally got their first behind-the-scenes look at Tom Cruise on set with acclaimed director Alejandro G. Iñárritu for their upcoming film. The news comes from sources on set and has generated excitement as this will be Iñárritu’s first English-language project since The Revenant in 2015.
The movie is an American black comedy that follows the story of the world’s most powerful man, who tries to prove he is humanity’s savior while facing an impending personal disaster that could destroy everything.
Tom Cruise leads the cast alongside a strong ensemble that includes Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and John Goodman.
In an interview, Iñárritu described the film as a comedy. “This film will explore power, ambition, and human folly, but in a way that makes you laugh as well as think,” he said. Cruise, who met with Iñárritu before being cast, is set to take on the lead role, marking another high-profile collaboration for the actor with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, which are producing the film.

Principal photography began in the United Kingdom on November 7, 2024, with legendary cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki behind the camera. The film was shot on 35mm film using VistaVision, giving it a distinctive visual style. Production wrapped on May 3rd of this year after six months, despite a brief pause in March when John Goodman was hospitalized due to a minor hip injury.
Warner Bros. Pictures has scheduled the release for October 2, 2026, in the United States, including an IMAX release.
