Ariana Grande Shows Off Her Magical Wand Skills on ‘Jimmy Fallon’
Ariana Grande wowed fans with her wand skills during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The singer and actress was promoting her upcoming film Wicked: For Good, in which she plays Glinda.
During the interview, Fallon asked if Ariana could do flips with a fairy wand. Looking surprised when handed a sparkly pink wand, she replied, “I can try. I’m a little out of practice. It’s been like three and a half years.” Fallon quickly reassured her, saying, “No pressure! I hate to ask you to do it.”
Despite the challenge, Ariana got up from the couch, adjusted her footing, and carefully performed a flip with the wand without knocking anything over. Her attempt earned applause from the audience as she executed it like a pro.
Wicked: For Good is the sequel to the 2024 film Wicked and is also known as Wicked: Part Two. Directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox, the film continues the story of Glinda and Elphaba from the 2003 stage musical by Stephen Schwartz and Holzman, which was inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, a reimagining of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The film sees Ariana Grande reprising her role as Glinda, alongside Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. Colman Domingo joins the cast in the sequel. Set in the Land of Oz, the movie explores Glinda and Elphaba embracing their identities as the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West.
The production faced delays, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Principal photography began in December 2022 in England and concluded in January 2024. Wicked: For Good premiered at the Suhai Music Hall in São Paulo, Brazil, on November 4, and is set to release in the United States on November 21. Critics gave the film generally positive reviews, though slightly less favorable than the first installment.
