Kevin Spacey Reveals Struggles, Living in Hotels Following Career Fallout
Kevin Spacey has revealed that he is currently homeless, living in hotels and Airbnbs as he tries to continue working in the film industry.
The Oscar-winning actor spoke about his situation in an interview with the Telegraph published Wednesday.
“I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is,” Spacey said. “I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”
He described his financial situation as “not great” following the s**** assault allegations that emerged in 2017. Spacey has consistently denied any wrongdoing. He was acquitted of s**** assault charges in a London criminal case in 2023 and found not liable in a civil lawsuit filed by Anthony Rapp in New York in 2022.
“The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical,” Spacey explained. “I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.” He also reflected on being “canceled” in Hollywood, saying, “You get through it.”
The actor compared his current life to his early career, saying, “In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was. Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”
Spacey’s career was deeply affected after multiple people accused him of s**** misconduct, including Anthony Rapp, Roberto Cavazos, filmmaker Tony Montana, Richard Dreyfuss’s son Harry, and several colleagues from House of Cards.
Following these allegations, Netflix cut ties with him, shelved his biopic on Gore Vidal, and removed him from the final season of House of Cards. His role as J. Paul Getty in All the Money in the World was reshot with Christopher Plummer.
