New Trailer Gives Fans a Look at ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ Season 2

A new trailer for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 has just been released, giving fans their first look at the upcoming season.

According to Crunchyroll, the second season will premiere on January 16, 2026. The trailer features the ending theme song “The Story of Us” by milet.

The sequel is directed by Omoya Kitagawa, who takes over from Keiichiro Saito at studio MADHOUSE. Tomohiro Suzuki returns to oversee the series composition, and character designs are handled by Yuri Fujinaka, Keisuke Kojima, and Maru Takase. Music for the season is composed by Evan Call.

The main cast is back, with Atsumi Tanezaki voicing Frieren, Kana Ichinose as Fern, Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel, Yoji Ueda as Eisen, and Hiroki Tochi as Heiter.

Crunchyroll describes the story as following Frieren after the heroes defeat the Demon King and peace returns to the land. Over time, Frieren confronts the reality of human mortality, takes on a new apprentice, and sets out to fulfill the dying wishes of her friends.

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End received widespread praise. Rotten Tomatoes reports a 100% approval rating based on five reviews, with an average score of 8.8/10.

The anime has also been one of the top-rated series on MyAnimeList and Anime News Network since early 2024. Digital Spy’s Ali Griffiths called it “one of the best fantasy anime of 2023,” praising its calm atmosphere, sound design, and themes about the passage of time. Richard Eisenbeis from Anime News Network highlighted the strong character dynamics, while Jenni Lada of Siliconera praised the depth of Frieren’s journey and how the story balances drama with slice-of-life moments.
