Noah Centineo in Talks to Join Sydney Sweeney in Live-Action ‘Gundam’ Movie
Noah Centineo is in talks to star in Legendary’s live-action adaptation of Gundam, potentially reuniting with the company after his work on Street Fighter.
The film, which remains untitled, will also star Sydney Sweeney and is directed by Jim Mickle, who is known for creating Netflix’s Sweet Tooth. Mickle also wrote the screenplay for the Gundam project.
Legendary has not confirmed the casting of Centineo. Earlier discussions for the male lead included Outer Banks star Drew Starkey, but those negotiations did not materialize. Sources indicate that Sweeney’s character is central to the story, and she has significant input in the casting of her co-stars, according to THR.
The film is said to focus on a romance between Sweeney’s character and the male lead, who come from opposing sides of the interplanetary war, echoing a Romeo and Juliet-style storyline.
Centineo is best known for his breakout role in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and its follow-ups. He also played Atom Smasher in New Line’s Black Adam and recently appeared in A24’s war film Warfare. The actor is currently preparing to shoot a Rambo prequel early next year, while Street Fighter, also starring him, is set for release on October 16, 2026, via Paramount.
Bringing Centineo onto Gundam could be a strategic move by Legendary, leveraging his rising profile and fanbase.
