Jonathan Bailey Smashes Major 2025 Box Office Record
Jonathan Bailey has emerged as the top-grossing actor of 2025, thanks to his standout performances in two major hits this year.
According to box office reports as of November 23, Bailey’s recent musical fantasy film, Wicked: For Good, has earned $150 million in the United States and Canada, with an additional $76 million internationally, bringing the global total to $226 million.
However, the majority of Bailey’s box office success comes from Jurassic World: Rebirth. The blockbuster has raked in $339.6 million domestically and $529.2 million overseas, giving it a worldwide total of $868.8 million. Combined with Wicked: For Good, Bailey has contributed to films that have grossed over $1.09 billion globally in 2025 alone.
Bailey plays Fiyero in Wicked: For Good, a role that has drawn praise from critics. The Guardian called him “an outrageous scene-stealer as the hetero-camp Fiyero,” while ABC News highlighted his performance as “a display of song, dance and acting virtuosity.” Beyond acting, Bailey also contributed to the film’s soundtrack with the song “Dancing Through Life,” which debuted at number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later peaked at number 86.
His work on the film earned him a nomination for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role, alongside a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
In addition to his film success, Bailey appeared on stage in Nicholas Hytner’s production of Shakespeare’s Richard II at the Bridge Theatre, playing the titular role until May.
Bailey’s combination of stage and screen work this year has solidified his status as one of the most successful and versatile actors in the industry. His ability to shine in both blockbuster franchises and musicals shows a range that has clearly resonated with audiences worldwide.
It’s impressive to see an actor dominate both the box office and the stage in the same year. What do you think about Jonathan Bailey’s record-breaking year? Share your thoughts in the comments.
