Nicole Kidman has a very different reason for rewatching films than some of her fellow actors.

She has said many times that she goes back to “Gone With the Wind,” the classic 1939 romance, at least once every year. For her, it’s all about the emotional impact. The long runtime and heavy themes don’t turn her away.

Instead, she enjoys the intense feelings the story brings out, especially the complicated choices made by the main character, Scarlett O’Hara.

Kidman explained in a past interview that the film still affects her deeply. She said, “I watch it every year. I adore Vivien Leigh. ‘Ashley!’ I’m still devastated that she can’t love Rhett. You feel like shaking her. I love the film because of that — it brings out all those emotions.”

“Gone With the Wind” is one of the most famous films ever made. It follows Scarlett O’Hara during the American Civil War as she struggles with love, loss and survival. The movie had a difficult production and went through many casting changes and rewrites. When it was finally released, it became a major success and won many awards, including several Oscars.

Even decades later, the film remains a huge part of movie history. It broke box office records, stayed popular through many re-releases and is still known around the world. Over time, it has also faced criticism for how it portrays history, but its cultural impact is undeniable.

Kidman’s yearly tradition shows how powerful certain films can be, even many generations later. No matter how many new movies come out, she always returns to this one classic because it moves her in the same way every time.
