Robert Downey Jr. Reveals Doctor Doom and Iron Man Tease for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Robert Downey Jr. has given fans a fresh tease for Avengers: Doomsday with a new Thanksgiving-themed post on Instagram. The image shows a comic-style drawing of Iron Man and Doctor Doom pulling on a wishbone, with only their shoulders and hands visible. The post has sparked speculation about whether Downey’s confirmed role as Doctor Doom could also include a return of Tony Stark.
Fans quickly reacted, debating the possibility of dual roles or multiverse storylines in the upcoming Marvel movie. Some even predicted that Iron Man might appear again in future MCU projects, including Secret Wars.
This isn’t the first time Downey has teased his Doctor Doom role. Earlier this year, he shared posts tied to the character, including a DOOM #1 (2024) comic labeled as part of his “Doom workstation essentials,” a Valentine’s Day post featuring a Doom mask with chocolates, and a Mother’s Day post showing Susan Downey styled as Sue Storm while her mother knits Doctor Doom’s costume.
Avengers: Doomsday, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. The cast includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Collider reports that Marvel plans to debut the first trailer on December 19, ahead of screenings for Avatar: Fire and Ash.
