Hugh Jackman has made his new relationship with Broadway star Sutton Foster public, and the reaction online has been loud, and not entirely positive.

The actor shared photos and a short video of Foster on Instagram after attending one of her recent holiday performances in New York City. It was the first time he openly posted about her, signaling that the two are no longer keeping their romance private. In the post, Jackman praised the night and called the show “magical,” clearly proud to support her.

But many followers did not react the way he may have expected. Some users criticized the post and questioned his new relationship. Comments ranged from disappointment to outright anger. One person wrote, “I lost all my respect for you. I know you won’t care but I do.” Another added, “Reminiscent of the praise you always heaped on Deb.” Others chimed in with, “So disappointing,” “Team Debora,” and “Everything about her is so obnoxious.” The pushback highlighted how divided fans are after the actor chose to share a glimpse of his personal life.

Jackman and Foster have known each other for years through the Broadway community, but reports in late 2024 claimed their relationship had recently turned romantic. People close to them described the pair as happy and supportive of each other’s careers. They have been seen dining together in New York and spending time around the city, including walks through Central Park.

The timing of their relationship drew extra attention because Foster filed for divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin in 2024. That detail sparked questions about when her romance with Jackman actually began, though neither has addressed the speculation.

The couple’s public outings have become more frequent. Jackman attended the final week of Foster’s Los Angeles run in Once Upon a Mattress earlier this year, a moment many fans saw as a sign that their relationship was serious.

They later appeared together on the red carpet at the premiere of Jackman’s film Song Sung Blue, marking their first major public event as a couple.
