Benedict Cumberbatch recently opened up about Doctor Strange and the potential clash with Doctor Doom during an interview with IGN.

While promoting his role as the official Ambassador for the World of Tanks Holiday Ops 2026 event, the actor was asked who he thinks would win in a fight between the two iconic Marvel characters. “I hope Dr Strange!” he said, offering a playful hint at what fans might expect when the characters eventually meet on screen in the coming Marvel films.

Although Cumberbatch stayed tight-lipped about appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, he confirmed that Doctor Strange’s story is far from over. He revealed that he has “more than a sense” of what’s ahead and assured audiences that they “definitely will” see the character again.

In addition to his live-action appearances, Cumberbatch has continued to portray the Sorcerer Supreme in Marvel’s animated series What If…?, keeping fans engaged with the character between major film releases.

Looking ahead, Marvel has several big projects lined up. Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday are scheduled for 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, which is expected to conclude the Multiverse Saga.

While there’s speculation he may not appear in Doomsday, many believe Doctor Strange will have a major role in Secret Wars. There are also reports of a third Doctor Strange solo film in development. Earlier this year, Cumberbatch mentioned he was preparing for the next installment and has had discussions with Marvel about directors, writers, and comic storylines he wants to explore.

It seems clear that Doctor Strange’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is far from finished. With the upcoming films promising multiverse-shaking events and potential face-offs with iconic villains like Doctor Doom, fans have plenty to look forward to.
