‘Stranger Things’ Extra Reveals His Mind-Blowing Netflix Paycheck
Tristan Spohn actor on the rise, recently shared how much he earned for his role as “Number Two” in ‘Stranger Things.’
Tristan appeared in five episodes and said it was his first job with Netflix. He auditioned from Texas and later traveled to Atlanta, where the season was filmed.
Netflix covered his flight and even provided a personal driver, which he estimated cost about $700 each way. However, the company did not initially pay for his hotel, leaving him without money for food on his first night. He was later reimbursed for his six-week stay in a hotel he described as “very luxurious-looking,” costing around $7,561.
Even when he wasn’t on set, Tristan was still earning. He received $150 per hour for travel time, which added up to $2,485. In addition, he got a daily $60 per diem for meals, totaling more than $2,500 during the six-week shoot, even though food was provided on set.
Some unexpected income came from flashback scenes. Because some of his footage was reused in later episodes, he earned nearly $4,000 more. Tristan also continues to earn residual payments thanks to the show’s ongoing success.
“He’s previously explained how he’s able to continue making money even now due to the show’s success, through residuals, but these extra cheques are welcome bonuses given he’s made over $12k in the last three years just from people tuning in,” he said.
Tristan’s base pay for the six weeks of filming was $30,000, which increased to $36,000 after accounting for reshoots and overtime. In total, he earned $58,662 before taxes and agency fees. After $15,000 went to taxes and $4,400 to his agency, his final take-home pay was $38,593.
For a first acting role, Tristan described the experience as very rewarding. Nearly $40,000 for six weeks of work, plus free food, luxury accommodations, and ongoing income from reruns, made it a strong start to his career.
