Mercy is set in 2029 Los Angeles, where a detective finds himself on trial for the murder of his wife. He has only 90 minutes to prove his innocence to an advanced AI judge, a system he once supported, before it decides his fate. The premise promises high stakes and fast-paced tension, as the line between human judgment and artificial intelligence blurs.
Chris Pratt leads the cast as the detective, with Rebecca Ferguson starring alongside him. Other cast members include Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, Kylie Rogers, Rafi Gavron, and Jeff Pierre. Ryan Hailey also appears in a smaller role as a homeless man.
Production for Mercy began on April 18, 2024, in Los Angeles, with cinematography by Khalid Mohtaseb. During filming, Chris Pratt suffered an ankle injury on the fourth day but continued with the shoot. Filming wrapped on May 23, 2024.
The movie will be available in 3D and IMAX formats. It was initially scheduled for release on August 15, but the date was later moved to January 23, 2026. The new trailer showcases the film’s tense atmosphere, futuristic setting, and high-stakes drama, building anticipation for its release.
