A brand-new trailer has been released for the upcoming British thriller Wasteman, directed by Cal McMau and starring David Jonsson and Tom Blyth. The film has already started generating attention for its tense story and intense performances.

Wasteman follows Taylor, played by David Jonsson, a man trying to rebuild his life after leaving prison. His plans are complicated when Dee, played by Tom Blyth, enters his world. As Dee takes Taylor under his wing, a violent attack tests their loyalty and forces Taylor to make a tough choice between protecting Dee and keeping his own freedom. The supporting cast includes Corin Silva as Gaz, Alex Hassell, and Neil Linpow as Robby.

The screenplay is written by Hunter Andrews and Eoin Doran, while production is handled by Bankside Films along with Agile Films, It’s All Made Up Productions, and Hoopsa Films. Filming took place in London and Somerset during the summer of 2024, with several scenes shot at the historic Shepton Mallet Prison. Cinematographer Lorenzo Levrini worked to create a raw, immersive visual style for the film.

Wasteman had its premiere in the Centrepiece program at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. It is set for a United Kingdom release on February 20, 2026.

Early reactions from critics have been positive. The Upcoming said, “In an immersive journey, Wasteman escalates from gritty prison drama to pulse-pounding suspense, powered by its remarkable co-leads firing on all cylinders.” RogerEbert.com added, “there’s a spark that the film gains from these two young performers that’s never extinguished.”

With the trailer now out, fans can get their first look at the high-stakes drama, intense action, and strong performances that define Wasteman.
