Wenne Alton Davis, an actress known for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, has died after being struck by a car in New York City. She was 60 years old.
The New York Police Department said they responded to a 9-1-1 call on Monday, December 8, reporting a pedestrian hit at West 53rd Street and Broadway. Investigators found that a black 2023 Cadillac XT6, driven by a 61-year-old man, struck Davis.
She suffered serious injuries to her head and body and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the driver stayed at the scene and was not hurt. No arrests have been made, and the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is continuing its investigation, according to Us Weekly.
Davis appeared in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in 2023 as a cop in one episode. She also had guest roles in several other TV shows, including New Amsterdam, Blindspot, Girls5eva, and Rescue Me. Born Wendy Davis in Durham, North Carolina, she later used the stage name Wenne Alton Davis. After moving to New York in her late 20s to pursue acting and stand-up comedy, she lived in Forest Hills, Queens.
In addition to acting, Davis worked in security at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Her agent told The New York Times, “She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at JFK and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge).”
