Taylor Swift Fires Back at Critics During ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ Appearance
Taylor Swift addressed her critics during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, giving a clear message to anyone who thinks she should step away from the spotlight.
The 35-year-old singer reflected on her career, personal milestones, and the advice she seeks from trusted people. Swift emphasized that she values longevity in all areas of life. “Career longevity, friendship longevity, longevity in their relationships,” she said. “‘How do you keep a good thing going?’ I think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity.”
However, Swift acknowledged that not everyone shares her perspective. Some critics feel that she should give others a chance to shine. “There are also corners that are like, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just go away so that we can talk about how good you were?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t want to.’”

She revealed that she relies on Stevie Nicks, Max Martin, and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, for advice. “I can talk to him about any of this,” she said, referring to Kelce. Reflecting on 2025, Swift called it “a good year,” highlighting two major events: her engagement and reclaiming her masters, achievements she once thought might never happen. “I’m so grateful for both of those things happening,” she added.
Swift and Kelce confirmed their engagement in August with a joint Instagram post. Their romance began after he attended one of her Eras Tour shows.
Taylor Swift is showing that she isn’t letting critics dictate her path. She’s confident in her career, her personal life, and the decisions she makes. Do you think Swift handled her critics well? Share your thoughts in the comments.
