Sydney Sweeney Says Her TikTok Is Flooded With Hate Targeted Toward Her
Sydney Sweeney is speaking openly about the negative comments she sees online, especially on TikTok. While promoting her upcoming movie The Housemaid, the actress addressed how harsh social media can be and how it continues to affect her.
During a Vanity Fair lie detector video, Sweeney talked with her co-star Amanda Seyfried about her public TikTok account, @syds_garage. She said the page has become a place filled with criticism rather than support.
“Sadly a lot of hate,” Sweeney said when describing the comments she sees. Seyfried reacted strongly during the video, responding, “Well, f**** TikTok! F**** TikTok!” The exchange highlighted how intense and personal online backlash can feel.
This is not the first time Sweeney has faced public criticism. Earlier this year, she was at the center of controversy over her American Eagle jeans campaign.
Some people online claimed the ad sent the wrong message because of its slogan, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” which was read by critics as a play on words about genetics. The reaction quickly spread across social media.

Sweeney later addressed the situation in an interview with People magazine. She said she did not expect the backlash and explained her reasons for joining the campaign. “I was honestly surprised by the reaction,” she said. “I did it because I love the jeans and love the brand. I don’t support the views some people chose to connect to the campaign.” She made it clear that she never intended to promote harmful or divisive ideas.
The actress also admitted that she used to ignore media criticism, believing it was better not to engage. However, she now feels that staying silent can allow false narratives to grow. Looking ahead, she said she hopes for a shift in how people talk online. “I hope this new year brings more focus on what connects us instead of what divides us,” Sweeney said.
