‘Stranger Things 5’ Volume 2 Trailer Drops Ahead of Christmas Premiere
The first trailer for Stranger Things 5, Volume 2, has finally dropped, giving fans a first look at the epic conclusion to the series. The teaser shows a battered Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and hints that Hawkins’s darkest secrets are about to come to light.
Volume 2, which premieres on Christmas Day with three episodes, focuses on the Hawkins teens racing against time to stop Vecna and the Upside Down. In the trailer, Will (Noah Schnapp) tells his mom, Joyce (Winona Ryder), “We failed. We never stood a chance.” Joyce, holding him close, reassures him, “It’s not over. Not by a long shot.”
Everything we have ever assumed about the upside down has been dead wrong.

The trailer includes intense moments, from a dangerous pact between Dustin and Steve (Joe Keery) to an electrified Demogorgon. It also teases Will using his new powers, revealed at the end of Volume 1. Ross Duffer, co-creator and director, explained the importance of Will’s role this season.
“We’ve always known that Will has a connection to Vecna and the Upside Down. In Season 2, we started to delve into it, but one of the earliest ideas in the new season is, ‘What if Will were able to harness this connection and use it against our villains?’ We also felt it very natural to re-center the story on Will. He was the kid who was taken in Season 1, so it felt right for the story to come full circle. If anyone [was] going to be the key to ending Vecna, it needed to be Will.”
Gaten Matarazzo added that Will’s powers “change the game” for the Hawkins crew. Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike, joked, “We have two Elevens,” referring to the new advantage Will brings. The trailer ends with Vecna declaring it’s time for a “new world,” leaving fans eager to see how the showdown unfolds.
The first four episodes of Stranger Things 5 are already streaming on Netflix. Volume 2 will be released on Christmas Day, with the final episode scheduled for New Year’s Eve. Both volumes are set to go live at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET.
