Australian actress Rachael Carpani has passed away at the age of 45, her family confirmed on Instagram. The announcement, shared by her sister Georgia on Monday, Dec. 15, revealed that Carpani had been battling a chronic illness.
“It is with great sadness that Tony and Gael Carpani announce that their beautiful daughter, beloved Australian actress Rachael Carpani, unexpectedly but peacefully passed away after a long battle with chronic illness, in the early hours of Sunday 7th December,” the statement read.
The family added that a private funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 19, for close friends and relatives. “The family requests privacy at this very difficult time and will be making no further statements,” the post concluded.
Rachael Carpani was best known for her role as Jodi Fountain in the popular Australian series McLeod’s Daughters, which aired from 2001 to 2009. She also appeared in several U.S. television shows and films, including N.C.I.S: Los Angeles, The Rachels, If There Be Thorns, and The Glades. Carpani starred in Lifetime’s Against the Wall and featured in the 2009 film Triangle alongside Liam Hemsworth, showcasing her versatility across both Australian and international projects.
