Jack White strongly criticized Donald Trump after the president made controversial comments following the death of Rob Reiner. Reiner, the legendary actor and director, passed away alongside his wife at their California home in what police are investigating as an apparent homicide. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested in connection with the deaths.

White took to Instagram to express his outrage over Trump’s remarks. “Trump you disgusting, vile, egomaniac loser, child,” White wrote, sharing a screenshot of Trump’s Truth Social post.

“Neither he nor any one of his followers can defend this gross, horrible insult to a beautiful artist who gave the world so much. To use someone’s tragic death to promote your own vanity and fascist authoritarian agenda is a corrupt and narcissistic sin. Shame on you Trump and anyone who defends this.”

Trump’s post began with a brief mention of Reiner’s passing, but quickly shifted into what many considered offensive victim-blaming. Trump wrote that Reiner’s death was related to “the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

He continued, referring to “his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump” and included a comment about a so-called “Golden Age of America.” He concluded with, “May Rob and Michele rest in peace.”

Reiner was known for his outspoken political views, which were often reflected in his work. Films like A Few Good Men, The American President, Shock and Awe, and LBJ explored political issues and encouraged audiences to consider the wider implications of leadership and government decisions.

In a May interview with Rolling Stone, Reiner had criticized Trump, saying he tried “to turn this country into a full-blown autocracy” and added, “And because he’s so dumb and he’s such an incompetent person, he’ll fail, just like he’s failed with everything he’s ever done in his life.”

White ended his Instagram post by honoring Reiner’s legacy. “God bless you Rob Reiner and thank you for what you gave the world,” White wrote. “I never even met you and I still stand by you.”

It’s clear that White, along with many others, felt Trump’s comments were an insult to Reiner’s life and work. The focus on Reiner’s achievements and influence has dominated reactions online, with fans and peers highlighting the filmmaker’s lasting impact.
