Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals How Her Son Reacted to Adult Scenes With Timothee Chalamet in Her New Movie
Gwyneth Paltrow recently returned to the big screen with her new film, Marty Supreme, and she brought her children, Apple and Moses Martin, to the New York premiere. While the event was a big celebration for the actress, her 19-year-old son had a very different reaction to some parts of the movie.
During an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Paltrow said that Moses really enjoyed most of the film but immediately covered his eyes during her romantic scenes with co-star Timothée Chalamet. “He was like this the whole time,” Paltrow said, laughing as she mimicked him shielding his face. “He’s not into that.”
The actress explained that she had warned Moses ahead of time about the scenes. She learned the importance of giving warnings after failing to prepare her grandfather for a topless scene in Shakespeare in Love. Even with the heads-up, Moses still found the scenes awkward.
Apple, 21, handled the on-screen romance without any issues, but Paltrow admitted that her kids usually avoid watching her movies. They prefer seeing her as their mom at home rather than as a character on screen. Paltrow said Moses was “mortified” by the intimate moments.
Marty Supreme is set in 1950s New York and tells the story of a young ping-pong prodigy chasing his dream. Paltrow plays Kay Stone, a retired movie star who starts a romance with Chalamet’s character. The film marks one of Paltrow’s biggest acting projects since stepping away to focus on family and her wellness brand, Goop.
Paltrow reflected on attending the premiere with her children, saying the timing felt right as they head off to college. She admitted she is starting to adjust to the quiet of an “empty nest” while celebrating her return to acting.
