Brad Pitt Wins Key Legal Battle Against Angelina Jolie, Private Messages to Be Released
Brad Pitt has scored a major legal win in his ongoing battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their French vineyard, Château Miravel.
According to court documents obtained by Page Six, a judge has ordered Jolie to turn over private emails and text messages about her plans to sell her share of the property.
An insider told Page Six that the messages could show Jolie was not honest about her intentions regarding the vineyard. Jolie, 50, now has 45 days to provide the communications.
Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, expressed disappointment in the court’s decision. “The court’s ruling violates that law, undermines Ms. Jolie’s fundamental right to a fair trial, and represents yet another manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control her. We will appeal,” Murphy said.
The dispute stems from Pitt’s lawsuit claiming Jolie sold her portion of Château Miravel to the Stoli Group in 2021 without consulting him. Pitt purchased the vineyard with Jolie in 2008 for $28.4 million, and the couple had agreed not to sell their shares without each other’s consent. The exes, who married in 2014 and split in 2019, had planned to raise their children at the vineyard and turn it into a family business.
In October, Pitt requested that Jolie hand over communications with her business manager, publicists, financial advisors, and others. Pitt claims Jolie discussed the vineyard sale with non-lawyers, and these discussions should be included in the case. According to the filing, Pitt believes the messages about the sale are “the key transaction at issue in this litigation.”
Jolie has argued that these emails and messages are protected because they involve legal discussions. She has also accused Pitt of trying to control and harass her. “This once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina.”
The couple’s legal battles over the vineyard follow earlier tensions, including a 2016 FBI and Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services investigation into alleged child abuse by Pitt. Pitt was never charged. In 2022, Jolie filed a countersuit claiming Pitt tried to make her sign a nondisclosure agreement about alleged abuse.
Outside of legal matters, Pitt has publicly shared his struggles with addiction. He got sober in 2016, attended Alcoholics Anonymous, and credited co-stars like Bradley Cooper and Anthony Hopkins for support during recovery. Pitt has also admitted to using cannabis in the late 1990s to cope with fame but later reduced his usage to focus on work.
This latest court ruling gives Pitt an advantage in the vineyard dispute, but the battle between the two Hollywood stars is far from over. The case continues to draw public attention, highlighting both the personal and business complexities in high-profile divorces.
This legal battle shows how complicated shared assets can be after a high-profile split. While Pitt has gained a legal win, the underlying disputes and allegations show there’s still a long way to go. What do you think about the case and the court’s decision? Share your thoughts in the comments.
