Timothée Chalamet has put an end to online rumours linking him to the masked rapper EsDeeKid. The actor shut down the talk by appearing with the rapper in a new music video, making it clear they are two different people.

For weeks, fans online had pushed the idea that Chalamet was secretly living a second life as EsDeeKid. The rapper keeps his face hidden and only shows his eyes, which led some followers to claim they looked similar to the Hollywood star’s. The rumours grew louder as EsDeeKid climbed the UK charts and Chalamet stayed quiet while promoting his latest film.

Earlier this week, Chalamet was asked directly about the claims. Instead of giving a clear answer, he said, “No comment… You’ll see, all in due time.” That response only added fuel to the speculation.

The mystery ended when Chalamet shared a video of himself performing alongside EsDeeKid. The clip shows them rapping together on a remix of EsDeeKid’s hit track “4Raws.” At one point, Chalamet plays along with the rumours by covering his face before revealing himself and delivering his own verse. He also made a brief reference to his real life, including a line about his partner, Kylie Jenner.

The video was filmed in north London and was later reposted by EsDeeKid, confirming the collaboration. Fans quickly shared the clip across social media, where it gained massive attention. Several well-known artists reacted online, praising the unexpected team-up and joking about the wild theory finally being cleared up.

Radio host Greg James, who had also questioned Chalamet about the rumours earlier in the week, later posted that the mystery had been solved. The timing of the reveal also helped boost attention around Chalamet’s upcoming film, which he referenced during the collaboration.

The idea that Chalamet and EsDeeKid were the same person was always unlikely, especially given the rapper’s strong regional accent. Still, the playful silence and final reveal turned the rumour into a viral moment that worked in both of their favor.

This was a smart and funny way to deal with internet gossip. Instead of denying it outright, Chalamet leaned into the moment and let fans enjoy the reveal. It shows how fast rumours can spread online, but also how easily they can be flipped into entertainment.

What do you think about this collaboration and the way the rumours were handled? Did you ever believe the theory? Share your thoughts in the comments.
