Apple TV Axes Thriller Series After One Season Following Bad Reviews
Apple TV has canceled its thriller series “The Last Frontier” after just one season. The show starred Jason Clarke as Frank Remnick, a U.S. marshal in Alaska who faces a dangerous situation when a prison transport plane crashes in the wilderness, releasing a group of violent inmates.
As he tries to protect his town, Remnick starts to suspect the crash was no accident but part of a larger, dangerous plan.
The series also featured Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Dallas Goldtooth, Tait Blum, and Alfre Woodard. It was created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, who also served as executive producers, along with Clarke, Laura Benson, Glenn Kessler, Albert Kim, and director Sam Hargrave.
Critics gave the show mixed reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 46% approval rating from 24 reviews. The critics’ consensus reads, “Squandering a crackerjack premise, The Last Frontier stretches on for too long to sustain momentum while also leaving its potential largely unexplored.” Metacritic gave it a score of 53 out of 100, indicating “mixed or average” reviews.
Despite its strong cast and dramatic premise, the show was unable to win over critics or audiences, leading to its early cancellation.
“The Last Frontier” had an interesting concept and talented actors, but it seems the storytelling didn’t fully deliver. Do you think the series deserved another season, or was the cancellation the right choice? Share your thoughts in the comments.
