Kit Harington has finally put to rest any hopes of returning as Jon Snow in the world of Game of Thrones. In a recent interview with Variety, the actor was very clear about his decision.

“No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright,” Harington said when asked if he might reprise his iconic role in any new project, including audiobooks or spin-offs.

Harington became a household name through his portrayal of Jon Snow, the brooding and honorable member of the Night’s Watch, in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Over the course of eight seasons, he grew from a young, inexperienced boy at Winterfell into a key figure in the fight for the Iron Throne.

His character navigated political intrigue, personal loss, and the epic battles against the White Walkers, making Jon Snow one of the most memorable figures in modern television. Harington’s performance earned him widespread praise and cemented his status as one of the franchise’s central stars.

Back in June 2022, HBO announced that a Jon Snow sequel series was in early development. Harington was expected to reprise his role, and author George R.R. Martin confirmed his involvement.

The show, tentatively titled Snow, was initially promoted as an opportunity to explore more of Jon’s journey after the events of the original series. However, by April 2024, Harington revealed that the project had been shelved. The team struggled to find a story that felt exciting enough to continue Jon’s narrative.

While fans may be disappointed, Harington’s reluctance is understandable. After committing a decade to portraying one of the most famous characters in television history, stepping back allows him to explore new roles without the shadow of Jon Snow looming over every performance.
